why prestiging?

I agree with Thump3r. Do what you want and dont feel the pressure to prestige cause everyone else is doing it! I prestige to cause I love that I dont get bored at staying at one level and I have to do it all over again. It pushes me and I also love the extra things like prestige emblems and titles.

^ agree , I prestige now at 7 but everytime I prestige I pick 3or 4 weapons to level up and aim for 31.Usually a smg , lmg shotgun, you get the idea .It keeps the game fresh to me personally and I play with guns I would normally avoid but now I've 'mastered ' .But everyone to there own

To be honest, I believe prestiging makes you try out different weapons. At least if you want to level up faster it does. The guns stop rewarding you as well if you keep using the same one.
For example: you get 10,000xp for getting 500 kills with a gun, you get the same 10k for 1000 kills (so another 10k for another 500 kills), but then you get 10 k for 2500 kills... so 10k for 1500 kills. The gun at this point is not rewarding you equally to what another gun would. Which is a way of encouraging you to break out of your comfort zone.

And that to me is the whole point. By level 80, with everything unlocked and pro... you're comfortable. You play the game in a similar way often and the game could very well get stale. But to prestige and use only the guns and perks available (including carry overs) forces me to think on my feet and out smart enemy teams rather than just best them with gear or gun perks. A guy at level 80 might have the Range perk on his shotgun, but I can find inventive ways of closing the gap enough where I won't need the range perk.

Aside from that, the challenge of leveling up and fulfilling challenges is just appealing.

If you don't dig it, you certainly don't have to.
I had joined black ops way late and the pro perks were much harder to achieve, so I didn't prestige in that game until I learned about getting a token in Mw3 for doing so.
No harm no foul either way.

I prestige because I am a noob ( my first fps shooter) and it helps me get better with the guns/game. Plus I like to challenge myself to see if I can beat the amount of time it took me to prestige previously.

I wasn't going to prestige, I was stuck at level 80 no prestige for ever but it got boring. So yeah, I prestige because it bores me if I don't.

I prestige because it adds replay value to the game for me. I have it set in my mind, that I will finish all the goals I want with the last prestige. Everytime I prestige I try to get a new gun to gold that way I try out plenty of different weapons.

So far I prestiged 5 times on the PS3, decided to sale my ps3 and game and bought a 360 in which I've prestiged 2 more times.

A tip that works for me is playing dropzone after your prestige. If you focus on the objective, and not trying to get a MOAB you can land 3-5K points a game easy (without the bonuses). So if your doing horrible after you prestige try this out untill you level up enough to get your gun. (another tips for dropzone is equipment EMP grenade, a rpg, and a semtex lol. You can get alot of assists using that).

i prestige because it makes the game more fun i dont give a shit what prestige i am and i can say with pride that i am only 1st prestige on mw3 whats the point of sittin at the highest level and not gaining any XP? sounds boring to me thats why i prestige

Why prestige?

So you can lose everything, every time, get to 10th, work on things you wouldn't normally, get so much, then realize they are adding more prestiges. It's a lose lose lose lose lose situation.

While I can understand that it adds replay value, I think prestiging is a waste of time. I would rather them have the total levels in one "prestige". So it would be 800 in this game. I would like that 800 times more.

It gives you a token every time you prestige. The only things that seem worth it are the "unlock gear", and the "extra custom class".
