You don't invent a new game engine with every game release. That isn't how it works. A game engine is supposed to be able to support multiple games and really new engines aren't always great. They can be plagued with problems. Usually the 3rd or 4th game to come out on the same engine is the best version because they have all the bugs worked out and you get to experience the best it has to offer.
We can't say that we are disappointed in MW3 yet. It hasn't been released yet. I hate to hear people start to blast something before they have even tried it. It's like I tell my 7 year old son. "You have to at least try a bite of it before you tell me you don't like it otherwise you are just being closed-minded."

I think MW3 will be great, just like you said they should have all the bugs worked out with the engine by now, and MW3 should surpass all other CoD games because it'll have a hardcore, tuned game engine, fine tuned graphics, all the "good" ideas of previous CoD's, and it has Survival mode, which looks totally beast  !
