With the amount of moderators you have, you guys should take into consideration the amount of dead threads and threads that questions have been answered and close them as to avoid people trying to get easy post count and being post whores.

I don't think we've had to worry about this as our members don't tend to post boost. We have infraction systems in place and the site staff is very good about ensuring proper conduct on thew forum. Older threads are sometimes legitimately revived in order to avoid needlessly creating new threads.

The reason we leave previous threads open is so the topics can stay alive. If someone does dig up an old thread only to post spam in it we recognize it and give an appropriate infraction.

We don't like having duplicate threads. We would rather have 1 thread with lots of posts then 10 on the same subject with 5 posts each.

The system you are describing works on smaller forums but on this one we have found it to be undesirable.

As far as post whoring goes we have created a "forum games" section where people can post as much as they like about almost any topic they like. However, the threads/posts created in that section do NOT count towards the members post count. In order for someone to increase their post count they have to contribute to the other topics that help enrich the site overall.

@SMLiZMe I'm not trying to sound like an asshole or anything, but maybe you should be on this site and active for a few weeks and see how the site actually runs before criticizing it?

I'm not going to comment on this as this is a friendly forum and I like to keep it that way.
