I Have A Theory
I have had extensive experience playing alone in public matches and now recently I have been playing with a group of 4-5 people consistently. This is my theory: I think my k/d is inflated by playing with a full party consistently. It seems that more often then not when my team of 6 gets put in a lobby we are paired up with other people playing by themselves (not in a party). These people I believe tend to be the more casual gamers and often not the greatest. I know this is how I started out in mw2, playing alone and being terrible.
I just wonder how it turns out that the match making system seems to prefer pairing single players against a full team. Granted, it must be easier to find single players or parties of 2-3. Anyway, I know some of the credit to my better k/d can be given to playing with a full team consistently, but I just couldn't help but notice who we are playing against.
Thoughts? Personal experience like mine? Let me know

I know I always play better when playing with 1 or 2 other friends, just so I have somebody I know to talk/rage to. If I dont have a friend to play with me, I usually suck and just dont play. But I dont pay attention to my K/D, so I wouldnt know.

Probably true. They are less organized and are not communicating.

I play alone 99% of the time. I win some I lose some. My W/L is almost 1.00. I think right now it's 0.98. So I win and I lose. I'm always in to win it.

I do better when I play with friends. I don't know why, just helps my mojo. Even if the people I'm playing with suck or are really good. I still do better.
When in parties I'd say I get put against other parties about 50% of the time. When I'm alone though it seems like I lag out like crazy or I play against a bunch of parties.
I'm not complaining though. My W/L is well over 2.0, I actually think its almost 2.5.

I usually play alone or with at most 1 or 2 friends and my W/L is evident of that at just over 1.0. However, my kdr is not at all evident of going into games alone as it is 3.26 so idk, i guess i play better with less people.

It's PAINFULLY obvious when 3 or more players are playing together in synch. They don't even have to be that good individually and they'll tear you up as a team.
As I'm alone 99.9% of the time I just try to stay away from these groups. not that I have anything against them - I wish I had friends who were interested in BO... but there's really no way for me to compete against players who work as a team. I'm sure there are "lone wolves" out there who have the skills to deal with opposing teams but not me!

Definitely do better with friends. My Win Ratio is 2.80 and I owe it all to my friends.

@ Da_Fino I think that ideally the matchmaking system should have preference of matching parties against parties. Unfortunately I know this isn't the case. One of the few times I was playing in a party of 4 friends, another party of 4 joined our lobby. When the teams were matched up it was my party and 2 of the 4 from the other party, vs. the remaining 2 from the other party + 3 random people. I think ideally if you are in a party and everyone in your party is playing BO, you should be put into a special queue where you get matched against other BO-only parties of 4 or more. The only trouble with this is it would make wait times intolerable in some cases, especially in more sparsley played playlists like Prestige Team Deathmatch, or Capture the Flag. At least I figure it would. Who knows, maybe organized teams play those playlists more often than randomers... I think it will be a long time before Treyarch fixes or improves the match making system to work on this issue. There are just too many other little tweaks they could be working on to improve the game for everyone, not just people who play alone. Even though I assume a majority of people playing do not usually play in parties, pissing off your loyal partied players probably isn't something they are interested in doing... I wish they would though lol!
@rubb3rchick3npwn my performance when I am playing with friends is usuall better than when I am alone. However, sometimes I just get into a really good groove and have an 18-3, 15-4 kind of game when I am just playing by myself.
@ Triksylilhobbit random teams rarely communicate at all. It drives me crazy when I am playing alone on a team and I am the only one with a mic. However, I have had a few instances when I get onto a team of 6 random people not in a party and most have mics and you can really kick the other team a hefty loss, sometimes even if the opposing team is in a party.
Being in a party with people doesn't mean that you're good, it just means you are communicating well. Hell, being in a party doesn't even mean you are playing the same game!
@ PitifulGrunt I have been on a team playing against a party of 3 +3 non-party members and those 3 players absolutely dominated. It was on Radiation and they did amazingly well holding the catwalk areas, then the lower hallway area, then the building with the big tanks. Normally well-oiled teams just tend to camp particularly efficiently. They get ahead quick in the beginning then pull back and let you throw yourself into a meat grinder trying to get the score back to at least tied. I am also alone 99% of the time. I work for a huge bank and I am the youngest person on the staff by probably 15 or 20 years, except for the 1st year analyst that started when I did, so no one is really all that interested in gaming. Although, maybe I should start asking around to see if anyone has kids that play BO.
@ Blak Smyth I don't know my K/D off hand, but I know i always do at least 1.50+ when I am with a team (probably fluctuates between 1.00 and 16.00 my best game ever), and anywhere between 0.60 and 18.00 (my best game ever) when I am alone.
Funny thing is, if you play against a team that has a particular strategy, and that strategy just feeds into your strategy you can really mess the enemy team up. I played against a "well-oiled" team of 4 on Jungle and while the rest of my unorganized team ended with K/Ds of less than 1.00, mine was 3.78. I probably got 5 or 6 double kills and maybe 2 triple kills (napalm strikes).
So again, it is all about how quickly you figure out what the strategy of the "organized" team is, and how quickly you can wrap your head around a good counter-attack. I played against a "well-oiled" team of 3 on Summit and they were just holding the upper level of the central room. I can't tell you how many times I was able to hop up on a pallet of barrels between C4 and D4 and between tossing a few semtex and popping them with my suppressed Famas I was able to clear them out. Since it was their hot-spot they knew how to retake it and they always did, but they seemed to have no play in their book on how to hold the top level and defend against that pallet of barrels.
