Well free for those that spent the 1200 MS points on the MW2 Stimulus Map Pack on the first day:

"To thank you for your loyalty to Xbox LIVE and for buying the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus package on day 1, we will extend your Gold membership for 7 more days of adrenaline-pumping action with your friends on LIVE. Your account will be updated by May 1."

It's not a lot but it wasn't necessary either so the fact that they just went out and did this for no reason at all just reconfirms why I like XBox.

This is really cool of Microsoft to do. I mean, I didn't even have to deal with all the Day-1 madness that went on with these maps, and I STILL got that week. Owned.

What develop does something like this? Gives people free stuff for them making a mistake?

I was wondering what that random XBL message was.
Cuz when I got mine, it just showed a blank text box. So I'm assuming I got a free week.
But Microsoft gave all the people who continued to play Halo 2 online 400 free MS points just for playing Halo 2 online. Random? Yes. Awesome? Absolutely. Wish they would do that for people who still played CoD 4
