Concern about members policing

Forever now members have @Mentioned Mods/admins, and we get TONS of mentions and its a huge confusion when someone @mentions one of the staff.

All you have to do is use the report button, if you don't know how to report; Please Ask in this forums and Myself or one of the staff will post in the original post.


Here is the RULE:

Members are not allowed to police each other

Self policing causes a hostile environment and that isn't what we are known for.

Nothing like this:

Don't call them out and mention a staff member. It is more effective to report the post using the "report post" button and give your reasoning there. All reported posts are instantly sent to the staff and they will deal with the problem accordingly.

Just read that and do accordingly, please do not mention the staff unless you want to actually talk to them about something in a thread... Not Policing.

All we need you to do is help us out and use the report button when needed.

I've done this and I'm sorry for any problems it caused... I think of the report button as a suggestion to ban, as I've seen in other forums. That's why I haven't used it.

No, but its better than mentioning one or two mods cause if they are busy any mod or.admin can assist. Ive noticed alot of people mentioning thump3r or manunited10, but what if they arent on?

That isn't what it does here. All the report button does is send a message to the staff and let us know that a post is in need of our attention. It also gives you the opportunity to attach a note to the report to tell us why you are reporting it.

Once we get it we review it and decide what action to take.

I will be completely honest with you. Sometimes we will get a reported post and look at it and decide not to take action on it because it really doesn't need anything done on it or it was a conflict between members that already worked itself out.

The report button works better than "@" mentions do for a few reasons...

1. Reports are sent to a staff section of the forums and we all see those as soon as we check the forums. We don't see "@" mentions if we are using tapatalk. If you just "@" mention us then we won't see it until we log into the forums on our PC's. So using the report button get's faster results.

2. Reports are less hostile and keep our environment friendly. Nobody wants to hang out someplace where everyone is telling everyone else what to do and what not to do.

3. Reports are anonymous. You can report a post and nobody (besides the staff) will ever know it. Even if you just think something isn't right you can report it and the staff will determine if it is actually a rule violation or not.
