When Should You Use Stopping Power?
What I have for you is an excel sheet documenting when you should use stopping power. This took into account silencers for LMG's and Snipers as you get decreased damage on these guns only.
The chart does not encompass headshots on the Assault Rifles, SMG's or LMG's. It is assuming a damage multiplier of 1 as you get more non headshots and this is for general use.
Assault Rifle Findings
You should ALWAYS use stopping power on your gun as with the perk on you have to shoot 1 less bullet into an enemy to win the battle.
You could argue that the M16 and Famas it isn't needed because the 3 shot burst can kill. This is only if you hit with all 3 of the burst. With stopping power, you only have to hit them with 2 of the 3 bullets in the burst
However, there is 1 gun in this class which is an exception. The FAL. With or without stopping power, the FAL is going to take the same amount of bullets to kill an enemy.
Sub Machine Gun Findings
For almost all guns in all circumstances, near or far, stopping power should be used.
UMP 45 - From far away the stopping power effects are useless on the UMP 45. If you are shooting enemies far away with your UMP (not too likely that you do this on the regular) you don't need stopping power as it will take the same amount of bullets.
Light Machine Gun Findings
Without a doubt, in every circumstance should your LMG have stopping power on. With a silencer attachment on, the stopping power perk will get your weapon back up to its normal value and reduce the recoil by about 50%. If no silencer, you're looking at 2 or 3 bullets per kill with stopping power.
Sniper Rifle Findings
With sniper rifles, the only time you need stopping power on is if you are using a silencer. Without a silencer you will kill them with any kind of head or chest with 1 shot without stopping power.
If your aim is jacked up and you get body shots, you can get 1 shot kills with a body shot with stopping power on. Any limb shot will take 2 with or without stopping power.
All damage on the snipers on the sheet is assuming you are getting headshots or chest shots to come to these findings.
Hardcore Findings
Only in 1 circumstance does having Stopping Power make a difference in hardcore.
The Vector gets 1 shot kills up close with it rather than 2 shot.
All LMG's get 1 shot kills in HC but some get 2 when a silencer is attached. Putting stopping power with the silencer on the LMG's doesn't improve it at all.
Snipers are all 1 shot kills in HC.
Important note about silencers: Silencers don't technically take down the damage of a gun for the assault rifles or SMG's but they do reduce the range. Something that was near range without a silencer is now considered far range with it making it more bullets to kill this person.

thanks mth.
I do exactly what this does for LMG's, and snipers.
I normally and personally do not use Stopping power on my snipers.

There is absolutely no advantage to having SP on your Sniper. It's wasting the perk slot if you have it on it.

I don't know... i find the m16 is virtually the same with or without the perk on... I always have to soot once or twice, regardless of stopping power. So at the end of the day, 1 kill with 3-6 shots is 1 kill with 3-6 shots, anyway you look at at... Wouldn't recommend stopping for M16 or FAMAS.

only reason famas or stopping power doesnt kill with one 'trigger pull' is cause of the spread of the bullets. stopping power does help it

Well if you hit with all 3 of your bursts your going to kill them. The difference is you probably miss with 1 of the bursts.
Also, I updated the math which changes sniper findings.

I snipe a lot.....and i get too many hit markers if i don't have stopping power... and i still get a lot of body shots that are hit markers with fmj + stopping power...so i don't agree.

Same here. Maybe you can go without on the semi auto's because you can take that next shot as soon as possible but with the INT. if you miss the shot you're screwed.

Remember there is a shared lag and the game isn't pin point accurate. Have you ever seen a kill cam where the bullet was like 2 feet beside someone and killed them?
