Do Microsoft Points expire?

A friend of mine recently told me that if you hold Micor$oft Points on your console for too long they will expire, rendering them unusable. He didn't give me a period of time in which they expire, nor did he tell me how he knew this, so I'm skeptical. Obviously this only applies to Xbox players, but if anyone knows anything please tell. I have never heard this before and I am curious because I have some points left over that have been on there for awhile and need to know whether to spend them soon or not.

True story: found an old 30 day trial code in a box that was for the Tetris/starwars bundle from the first Xbox. Put in the code in the 360 for shits and giggles and got a free year of XBL. Best day ever!

Cool, thanks guys, I'll hold them. I heard also that if you buy the points they stay there, but if you get them through a promotional deal they have an expiration, but I've never had that.

Nope, they stay forever unless you get banned, which by then they are technically forfeit since they are non-transferable.
