Good thing I never check my email. Or when I do I make sure it comes from Xbox/ the real company.

It's always amazing when people all for these scams. They deserve it.

Some of these scams are really believeable, especially if you don't KNOW that they will never ask for a password, wouldn't need it, etc. Some scams will call and not ask for your password, but will ask for some identifying information to "Verify your account" like your SS number. Lots of bad things can happen even if they call about one thing but get any kind of information like just your name birthday and last four of your social.

It's that personal information that people need to withhold, that's why it's personal information. People need to be more educated on spotting scams.

Well you can partially blame companies too, people are used to verifying their accounts with birthdays and partial social security numbers. Most people don't think to ask or demand that they create a PIN number or some sort of secret question to note on their accounts instead. Another good rule of thumb is if they're calling you needing verification you need to be verifying who they are.

Don't give your information to anyone unless you are absolutely sure they are legitimate. If you are not absolutely sure, do some more research. If you are still unsure, opt our or use a spam e-mail first to make sure so they don't get anything important.

Also, like @SeaBass said, use passwords that would be hard to "crack". Combine upper case and lower case letters, and special characters. A password with eight lower case letters, i.e. password, would be "cracked" in ten minutes tops.

We have a whole thread about password safety http://www.iplaycod.com/forums/150-t...-why-fails.cod

an 8 character password with upper and lowercase letters could potentially be cracked in less than 3.5 minutes! http://www.lockdown.co.uk/?pg=combi
